Make Every Day Valentine's Day
The glare of Valentine's Day
Love it or hate it, there's no escaping
Valentines Day. Yes, Valentines Day can be one
great, glaring spotlight on our most intimate
lives.
As a relationship coach, every day, I work
with people who are either looking to make their
relationships more harmonious, or trying to find
that special someone. Relationships take up a
huge space in our lives, not just during
Valentines, but all year round. I hope you find
my tips useful in helping you to reflect on your
own special partnerships at this time. Please
get in touch if you want further 1:1 specialist
support.
Lust goggles anyone?!
So, how do you keep the romance alive in a
relationship? Many relationship experts agree
that we enjoy a dynamite chemical cocktail when
we fall in love, taking us close to insanity and
making us completely addicted to that special
someone. Yet, by the time we are 2-3 years into
a relationship, the love high fades, and the
lust tinted goggles have well and truly worn
off. It is no wonder we feel can deflated. Why
has my partner changed? This is a very common
complaint. Yet, ask yourself, have they really
changed? Or have you just got to know them for
who they always were in the first place?
Valentine's tip..
Ignore Valentine's Day for starters! Don't
wait for society to dictate when you can be
romantic, seductive or sexy. Be spontaneous!
Identify that one special thing about your
partner that truly drove you wild in the first
place. Look at your partner like you were seeing
them for the first time again, what feelings
arise in you? Use them! Act on your impulses!
There is something very inspiring about desiring
and being desired. Unless you prefer feeling
grumpy, frumpy and taken for granted of course!!
Are you a love junkie?!
Many people are addicted to the thrill of the
chase, and find themselves quickly losing
interest in a relationship. Do you find yourself
drifting from relationship to relationship,
wondering what's wrong with all the guys/gals
out there, or even what's wrong with you?
Valentine's tip
Discover what really makes you tick! What do
you find most thrilling and fulfilling when you
are first in a relationship? Identify your top
3, and imagine yourself sustaining these things
for a longer period, with one person. How
satisfying does that feel? What can you change
about yourself to attract that into your life?
If it does not feel remotely satisfying of
course, then you know you truly aren't ready for
a committed relationship yet and can continue to
enjoy the thrill of the chase for much longer!
Would your special someone benefit from
relationship coaching?!
